Peppers and chiles. Be very careful when you use small peppers as sometimes they can be incredibly sweet inside. There can sometimes be 3-4g carbs in a tiny chili pepper. When using bell peppers, try to opt for green as red/yellow bell peppers will have slightly more carbs.
If you’re a lover of banana, don’t worry too much though. We’ve used banana extract in a few of our recipes before and it really adds a fantastic flavor (without the carbs). Mix banana extract into low carb bread and smoothie recipes, or add it to ice cream and waffles to bring in new flavors to your treats.

Infants and patients fed via a gastrostomy tube can also be given a ketogenic diet. Parents make up a prescribed powdered formula, such as KetoCal, into a liquid feed.[18] Gastrostomy feeding avoids any issues with palatability, and bottle-fed infants readily accept the ketogenic formula.[30] Some studies have found this liquid feed to be more efficacious and associated with lower total cholesterol than a solid ketogenic diet.[3] KetoCal is a nutritionally complete food containing milk protein and is supplemented with amino acids, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It is used to administer the 4:1 ratio classic ketogenic diet in children over one year. The formula is available in both 3:1 and 4:1 ratios, either unflavoured or in an artificially sweetened vanilla flavour and is suitable for tube or oral feeding.[50] Other formula products include KetoVolve[51] and Ketonia.[52] Alternatively, a liquid ketogenic diet may be produced by combining Ross Carbohydrate Free soy formula with Microlipid and Polycose.[52]
“This keto diet plan is the most clear ,easy ,simple ketogenic meal plan I ever saw it’s explained very well and any one even busy people can do it .Thank you Raj ,really appreciate the time and effort you have put in this plan*”
For both keto and Bulletproof diets, opt for full-fat, grass-fed, organic dairy to reap the anti-inflammatory benefits of omega-3s and CLA. Dairy is a great source of fat on a ketogenic diet, but be mindful not over-do the protein. Although milk (yep, even raw, full-fat, or goat milk) is too high in lactose sugars, you can stay in ketosis with foods like butter, ghee, cheeses or greek yogurt. For those with lactose sensitivities, hard, long-aged ferments are easiest to digest. Avoid sweetened or low-fat dairy, evaporated or condensed milk, and buttermilk to keep your blood sugar low, and your fat intake high.
There are many different types of ketogenic plans but they all have ONE common denominator: very low carbohydrates. This means you need to keep your total carbohydrate amounts below 50 grams per day. The slower your metabolism, the lower your carbohydrate level should be. So, you may need to go down to 20 grams or less per day.
Unlike many fad diets that come and go with very limited rates of long-term success, the ketogenic diet or keto diet has been practiced for more than nine decades (since the 1920s) and is based upon a solid understanding of physiology and nutrition science.
Each meal you have to judge how much fat you need. If you’re really battling a high appetite/high craving day or week, you might want to add more fat, especially at breakfast to trim your appetite throughout the day and enable you to go longer without cravings and hunger. Ketosis in general suppresses your appetite, so your hunger will be greatly reduced. You’re going to be able to go many hours without eating. So let the hunger dictate how much fat you eat. If you’re not hungry, cut down on the fat and go a little bit lighter. You might need a little bit more fat sometimes, but don’t go crazy, because that’s going to slow you down.
In fact, saturated fat intake had an inverse association with the risk for suffering from a stroke, meaning the more saturated fat included in someone’s diet, the more protection against having a stroke they seemed to have. (12)
Drink water. Try to drink a gallon of water a day. Make sure that you’re hydrating and staying consistent with the amount of water you drink. It not only helps regulate many vital bodily functions, but it also helps control hunger levels.
A related product seen more frequently these days is ghee. Ghee is butter that has been clarified and has the milk solids removed. Because you heat butter for a time during this process, it has a very nutty, toasted flavor. The macronutrient content of ghee is almost identical to butter.
“Macros” is a shortened version of macronutrients. These are the “big 3” – fats, proteins, and carbs. You can use a calculator to find out how much or how little of each you need in order to attain your goals. You can find the calculator on the navigation bar of the site!
Shirataki noodles come in a variety of shapes, including rice, fettuccine, and linguine, so that you can substitute it for any of your favorite high-carb pasta recipes. When I am in a rush, I occasionally throw these noodles together with some pasta sauce, MCT oil, and pre-cooked bacon for a quick keto meal.
This keto foods list was developed for all the people who are struggling to figure out what foods they can eat on the keto diet. When people started noticing my weight loss, the conversations usually went a little something like this:
What’s The Secret? It’s keeping it simple while getting results!* My diet plan is an easy 7 day keto diet plan with variable options to make it extend to 21 days and beyond (I made it this way to be highly effective, yet easy to prepare). This plan has been the most successful with clients because keeping it simple is the key to long term success! To stay motivated you want to see the weight coming off fast, while feeling great and staying healthy. So I built this plan to achieve just that. Combining this meal plan, and one simple 20 minute workout a day will help in weight-loss like you have never experienced before!* it’s that simple!
So where do you start your calculations? With carbs and protein. When first getting started, it is ideal to keep carbohydrates less than 50 grams per day. Wittrock found that he likes to go even lower.
All meat and seafood are included on the keto diet, as long as it’s not breaded or fried. Enjoy beef, chicken, pork, lamb, goat, turkey and veal. You can also enjoy fatty fish like salmon, tuna, trout and sardines. Always choose the highest quality meat you can afford, whether that means grass-fed or organic. Eggs are always a great choice, preferably free-range. Nuts and seeds are also fine, including almonds, pecans, chia seeds and flax seeds.
Egg consumption has also been found to increase the feeling of fullness and keep blood sugar levels stable, leading to lower calorie intakes for up to 24 hours. This could mean that eggs are the weight loss boosting superfood you’ve been waiting for.
If that were the case, surely the keto diet would be the perfect storm for a heart attack. However, studies have proven that fat is not the culprit in cardiovascular disease— in fact, to this day, no reputable study has been able to show a link between saturated fat and cardiovascular disease (9).
Keto flu is a very common experience for new ketoers, but it often goes away after just a few days – and there are ways to minimize or even eliminate it. When transitioning to keto, you may feel some slight discomfort including fatigue, headache, nausea, cramps, etc.
3) Processed foods containing carrageenan (e.g. some almond milk products – watch for additives), MSG (e.g. in some whey protein products), sulphites (e.g. in dried fruits, gelatin), BPAs (they don’t have to be labeled!), wheat gluten.
Two to three ounces of nuts in a given meal should be fine, but use less if you have a gallbladder issue. Seeds are even better than nuts, nutritionally. Chia seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds—which are high in healthy nutrients, high in fat, low in carbs—are good for you. You can put them on salads, or make a trail mix out of nuts and seeds.
As for how it feels to follow the diet, St. Pierre says it will vary from person to person; as with most diet-related things, whether or not a way of eating works is in the eye of the beholder. He’s seen some people feel fine, but that “some clients have found it causes brain fog and lethargy, decreases their performance, disrupts their regular bowel movements, and makes them feel generally crappy,” he says. Some keto adherents also report having pretty atrocious breath, which might be caused by the presence of acetone, a ketone and byproduct of fat metabolism, in exhaled breath.

Place the cubes on skewers and grill on high until the chicken is cooked (usually, we grill on the bottom for a few minutes to get the charred look and then move the skewers to a top rack with the lid down to cook the chicken well).
The Keto diet has its roots in the decades-old therapeutic ketogenic diet. Clinically, the ketogenic diet is used in neurologic medicine, most notably to reduce hard-to-control seizures in children. Studies also suggest possible benefits in other brain conditions such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
When we constantly consume sugar, we release dopamine in our brain – creating an addiction and an increased tolerance. Over time you will have to eat larger and larger amounts of sugar to continue the dopamine secretion. Once our body is dependent on a chemical reaction in the brain, we can find that we’re craving things even when we’re not hungry.
This approach is very similar to the standard (SKD) approach. The primary difference is the protein intake. While a standard keto diet will include moderate protein, here you up your protein intake considerably.
We’re fasting! Black coffee if you’re a caffeine addict like me. Tea, if you are not into the coffee so much. Tea can add great health benefits like coffee also. Some of the great benefits of green tea are:
I noticed that the list of protein in vegetables doesn’t include all the vegetables in the Carbs vegetable list. Is it because for instance, there is no protein in zuchinni or green peppers? Also, is the equivalent of 150g (in the carb list), 1 cup (in the protein list). And btw, how many carbs in 30g of Brazil nuts? Thanks again, really appreciate the info. At first I thought keto was going to be easy to manage but it’s more complicated then counting calories!
Hunger is one way to know if you’re in fat burning, because the longer you do keto, the less hungry you’ll be.39,40 If you’re getting severe hunger with weakness and brain fog, you’re not quite into keto. Back off a bit. Don’t be doing 20-hour fasts. You need more fuel to give your body the energy it needs, and that includes energy to manufacture the enzymes to burn fat instead of glucose. Take it slow, add more fat to your first meal, and eat nutrient-dense foods. If you need more nutrients, try adding some nutritional yeast and electrolytes, and major amounts of potassium. These will help you fix insulin resistance and help you get into fat burning. Bone broth is great for a snack. It’s just nutrients without calories, period.
Shellfish are extremely beneficial as well — providing us with an excellent source of zinc, copper, and vitamin B12. Despite how healthy they are, it is important to be mindful of how much shellfish you eat on the ketogenic diet. Some shellfish may contain more net carbs than you might expect.
About 20% of children on the ketogenic diet achieve freedom from seizures, and many are able to reduce the use of anticonvulsant drugs or eliminate them altogether.[3] Commonly, at around two years on the diet, or after six months of being seizure-free, the diet may be gradually discontinued over two or three months. This is done by lowering the ketogenic ratio until urinary ketosis is no longer detected, and then lifting all calorie restrictions.[45] This timing and method of discontinuation mimics that of anticonvulsant drug therapy in children, where the child has become seizure free. When the diet is required to treat certain metabolic diseases, the duration will be longer. The total diet duration is up to the treating ketogenic diet team and parents; durations up to 12 years have been studied and found beneficial.[9]
Spinach, kale, chard, parsley and any other green veggie that goes well in a green drink are high in antioxidants. You don’t want to avoid these super healthy veggies just for the sake of staying in ketosis.
The ketogenic diet has a natural diuretic effect, so dehydration is common for most people starting out. If you’re prone to urinary tract infections or bladder pain, you have to be especially prepared.
I’m not here to sell you on nutritional ketosis or explain what it is or the big-picture benefits it can provide. That’s the domain of other articles. With the help of Myoplex athlete and longtime keto-adapted athlete Jason Wittrock, I’m here to provide you with your best induction experience.
Rather than relying on counting calories, limiting portion sizes, resorting to extreme exercise or requiring lots of willpower (even in the face of drastically low energy levels), the ketogenic, low-carb diet takes an entirely different approach to weight loss and health improvements. It works because it changes the very “fuel source” that the body uses to stay energized: Namely, from burning glucose (or sugar) to dietary fat, courtesy of keto recipes and the ketogenic diet food list items, including high-fat, low-carb foods.
A lot of traditional seasonings and sauces aren’t ketogenic diet-friendly because they contain added sugars and carbs, so herbs and spices really become your best friends. Just make sure they don’t contain any sugars and are purely the herb or spice itself. Examples include:
Drink water: Water is a huge deal on keto. You need to consume a lot of it. You need to stay hydrated and be consistent with the amount of water you drink. To make it easier, consider drinking water with fresh lemon in it or grab some MiO with Electrolytes.
